SAN DIEGO, Calif. (May 4, 2018) — The 2018 Ruby Awards, created and hosted by The San Diego Housing Federation, were held the evening of Thursday, May 3rd at the Prado in Balboa Park. Two projects that Civic San Diego was a part of— Ouchi Courtyards developed by Chelsea Investment Corporation and Atmosphere developed by Wakeland Housing and Development Corporation— were nominated for the Project of the Year: New Construction category.

The Atmosphere project, a 205 unit project serving households earning less than 60% of the Area Median Income, including 51 permanent supportive units for families at-risk of homelessness, took home the award.

“We are extremely proud of our partnerships with affordable housing developers, like Wakeland Housing, in making a positive impact on the community,” said Jeff Zinner, Senior Project Manager of Civic San Diego. “We are honored to be a part of the Ruby Awards and are working to increase the affordable housing available in San Diego County in the years to come.”

The Ouchi Courtyard Apartment Homes are located at 5003 Imperial Avenue, San Diego. The Atmosphere apartment building is located at 1453 Fourth Ave, San Diego.

The Ruby Awards recognize excellence in affordable housing and community development, highlighting the accomplishments of people, agencies and developments that work to ensure all San Diegans, regardless of income, have a safe, stable place they can afford to call home.
