Request for Qualifications for Lyceum Theatre Stage Renovation Plans

Civic San Diego (CivicSD), an equal opportunity contractor, is requesting
submittals in response to this Request for Qualifications (“RFQ”) from
theatrical design consultant teams for the preparation and permitting of
construction plans, details, notes and specifications, as well as the ability to
provide construction administration support to complete the renovation of
the Lyceum Theatre Stage Areas. The Lyceum Theatre’s lobby and public
spaces were renovated over the past two years and it is now desired to
renovate the stage areas. Subconsultant opportunities could include
structural, electrical and mechanical engineering services, audio/video
consultants, theatrical lighting consultants and cost estimating. A list of
desired design elements are identified in Attachment A.1 – Scope of
Services.

CivicSD is seeking a consultant team with a strong track record in providing
similar services in theatre design that will help meet the improvements
outlined in Attachment A.1. The project team should show expertise in the
following fields: Theatre design, civil, architectural, electrical, and
mechanical engineering, construction administration and cost estimating.
However the team is configured, it should comprise members who have
experience designing live theatre stage areas, are able to mobilize quickly,
maintain a high level of productivity, and be readily available during
construction.

Proposals from small businesses, disabled veteran-owned businesses,
women-owned businesses, firms owned by underrepresented ethnic groups
and local firms are especially encouraged.

There will be a mandatory pre-submittal meeting on Friday, August 10, 2018
at 10:00 am at the CivicSD office at 401 B Street, Suite 400 in downtown
San Diego. Subconsultants are encouraged to attend and network with
prospective prime consultants. Persons who wish to participate in the pre-submittal meeting, but are unable to do so may, upon advance notification,
request to have other reasonable means of participation. CivicSD is under
no obligation to furnish additional resources needed for any person to
participate. CivicSD will, however, make its best effort to provide for
extended outreach, but in no event shall its failure to do so or any failure of
the equipment entitle any person to protest the award of the contract.

Deadline to submit a response is Thursday, August 30, 2018 at 4:30 pm.

All those wishing to submit are required to register on CivicSD’s PlanetBids
website, which can be found on www.civicsd.com (click on “Doing Business”, and then register in the “Bid Opportunities” tab). This will ensure that once the
solicitation and any addendums are issued, you will be notified. Any questions
regarding this solicitation must be posted directly to the PlanetBids website.
Responses to those questions will be posted to the website only. CivicSD is
bound only by what is expressly stated in this solicitation and any authorized
written addenda thereto. It shall be the consultant’s responsibility to check the
website up until the final submittal date for any possible addenda and responses to questions that may effect this solicitation.

Incomplete submittals, incorrect information, or late submittals shall be cause
for disqualification. Copies received by e-mail and/or fax shall not be deemed
as received.
